Why do I want to go abroad to student teach?
- Expand my cultural understanding and competence; to experience another culture so I can come to better understand my own, as well as awareness of people, lifestyles, and world around me.
- Learn new teaching strategies and approaches; broaden my perception of effective education, try new things, upgrade and revise my techniques and mental conceptions of education based on what I see and experience there. I believe this would just allow me to become a better, more well-rounded and experienced teacher in the end.
- Learn more about myself in general; what am I capable of, what skills and abilities do I have that I may not have had a chance to develop, how do I feel about being on my own in a different country, do I enjoy traveling, etc. I want to grow as a person in terms of flexibility, independence, creativity and innovation, adaptability, and embrace an adventurous side that may allow me to learn a lot more about myself than I was aware of.
- Make global connections with people; create a global network support system, but also learn from them, hear their stories, and welcome life lessons from them.
